well, after a long time spent looking at my enormous new bag of felt, i finally ripped it open and started cutting away. for some reason, this time it felt like a big blank canvas just waiting for some paint. intimidating. maybe it's because i held off on buying new supplies for so long, that when i finally did, i had so many ideas in my head that it was all rough-and-tumble getting out of there... well the flowers won. i'll have many new ones in the shop this week. i wear big brooches often, and 1) it makes me feel like a grown up and 2) whatever sad outfit i had put together magically matches when i put a big multicolor brooch on it. amazing. shoes work like that, too.
speaking of shoes... i just finally got to look at a magazine that rick gave me for christmas... it's called metropop and it doesn't look like anything i normally read, so i can only assume he bought it because the cover features a rather nice shoe illustration. this magazine is hipper than i will ever be again, but it did have a really nice photo spread by ellen ugelstad called the shoe project. i really really love the way she just whittles people down to their faces and their shoes. pretty great. and the colors are inspiring... check it out!
