a serious addiction

i have no idea why suddenly after all of these years, my love for anthropologie is hitting me in a big way this season. for some reason, i can't stop making earrings to go with outfits i don't have.

sigh.

well, they're in the shop now!

oopsie

i have had what can only be described as a shopping catastrophe. after beginning to think about spring shows, and my shop hitting 102 sales (wow!), my poor paypal account is whirring and humming, and very tired. i have ordered a ridiculous amount of supplies to get my brain moving, and it seems to be working.

i love these "grab bags" of plastic bits i order, since it seems to force me to think beyond what i would normally do. i remember it being the same when i was doing the displays at anthropologie. really, i had a room full of junk and a wee little budget to make an enormous store look magical. i learned really quickly to see 100's of possibilities in everything, and to use every piece available. if you've always planned your projects, i highly recommend trying this to get those creative juices flowing.

well, the bean though they looked lovely as cookies on her tea tray. i have to agree, she's a budding photo stylist. anyway, coming this weekend, in the shop, these little bits transformed. stop by and see!

bunny fever

we are currently obsessed with bunnies here. bunny pancakes, to be specific. to be more specific, bunny-pancakes-which-we-will-
initially-request-do-NOT-have-m&m-eyes-then-will-complain-
when-we-are-served-an-eyeless-bunny-until-mommy-tries-
to-squish-m&m's-onto-a-fully-cooked-pancake type of bunny pancakes. well, they are yummy no matter what.

we are also obsessed with spring around here, me in particular, so there will be many more flower pins in the shop by the week's end!

lastly, stop in and check out my new website. i'm really pleased with how it turned out.

now, get outside and think spring!

who?

we saw a movie tonight. i have been anxiously awaiting the release of horton hears a who for no other reason than the fact that i have been dying to see a movie, and this was one we could take the bean to.

now, i didn't know anything about this movie. and, to be honest, even though my husband is a 3d artist and i am widely exposed to all the technology and magic that goes into making a movie like this - well, i still prefer good old stop motion animation. there's something about the dedication, meticulousness, and repetition involved in stop motion that blows me away every time.

i am an old suess fan, having favored his aesthetic and peace loving philosophies at an early age, and was somewhat skeptical about this blockbuster of a movie. this was an amazing movie, though. the flora and fauna were perfect, and the animation was unbelievably, well, believable. i wish i could find some images of the feathery plants in horton's jungle, and i am seriously thinking i might need a who haircut.

i think there will be feathers and stripes in my work in the near future.

unexplained longing

when i was a kid, we ate tv dinners. not often, but every once in awhile we would be lucky enough to eat roast turkey, fake potatoes, and overdone green beans out of a tin tray. (did i just give away my age?) as if this was not enough, we got to eat in the living room, on tray tables, WATCHING TV.

i can't quite verbalize just how much i want these super cool "munch" dishes by lorenabarrezueta, but oh, god, i do. maybe it has something to do with my dreams of tv dinners from the past, but in any event, i see these in my future. full of veggie lasagna made with organic vegetables and whole wheat pasta. and maybe some applesauce on the side.

marching for the animals

we do this march every year - it's great fun doing something good. this year, i'll be marching with the BEST pack - please join us if you are local, or donate to help out!

i'll also be donating 5% of all my sales in the shop through April 18th, and i've created a special listing where you'll receive a free mini flower brooch with a $10 donation. check it out, and thanks for helping the animals!

Your support of the March for the Animals helps the Maryland SPCA provide urgently needed care for more than 3,000 animals each year.

How your pledges will make a difference...

$11 pays for one feline leukemia test
$25 vaccinates 20 dogs for kennel cough
$43 provides flea treatment and heartworm protection for a dog
$300 pays for an animal’s care at our shelter until it is adopted, including vaccinations, spay/ neuter surgery, food, and care.

speechless

for those of you who know me in person, you know that speechlessness is a rare occurrence. blogwise, not so much, which i blame on my short attention span and my two year old "decorating" the walls with crayons every time i sit down at the computer. but that's another story.

anyway... jena at modish gave me this amazing write up. you must check out her blog in it's indie entirety, but in the mean time, settle for this preview, right here. enough said.

thank you, modish!!!

oh my my.

i admit it. i never fully got over my relationship with anthropologie. when the catalog comes (it's one of the few catalogs i haven't had stopped) i curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea like a little girl making a christmas wish list.

once i was done, i felt really inspired to make these new earrings, shown above, which will be posted in the shop today and tomorrow. and yes, that is the catalog in the background. yum.
